Alexander Koukoulas is a Director in the Bioindustry Division of AFRY Management Consulting. With extensive experience in senior leadership positions at International Paper and Albany International, he brings valuable expertise to his role. Alexander is a strategic advisor in the forest products industry, specializing in unlocking biopossibilities and identifying growth opportunities. He has also founded A2K Consultants LLC and served as president and CEO of the Herty Advanced Materials Development Center. Alexander has advised esteemed organizations such as the U.S. Departments of Energy and Agriculture, the European Commission, and Canada's NSERC on bio-economy projects. He holds B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from McGill University and executive certificates from MIT Sloan School of Business. Alexander is an accomplished inventor, known for the first biodegradable coffee cup and pioneering advancements in biorefinery co-location for the pulp and paper industry. He is a member of various professional societies and resides in Savannah, GA, with his wife, Lynn.
