Cultural Expert & Member of the Indigenous Peoples Burning Network
Anna Merritt is a member of the Indigenous Peoples Burning Network and a cultural expert rooted in Indigenous knowledge systems.
A Klamath Tribal member and Indigenous knowledge holder, she focuses on restoring balance between land, fire, and community through the integration of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and ecological science.
Since 2022, she has been involved with the Indigenous Peoples Burning Network, supporting the revitalization of cultural fire practices. In 2025, she hosted the first community cultural burn workshop in decades, helping reconnect community members with ancestral stewardship.
Her work centers on cultural fire, watershed restoration, and Indigenous-led land management.
